Minister of SMEs and Startups Lee Young hosted the ESG Management Innovation Fair 2023 at Conrad Hotel in Yeouido, Seoul. At the event, eight small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) that have adopted ESG management in difficult business conditions were awarded. Daewoon Transportation overcame its management crisis by introducing hydrogen buses and preferential hiring of vulnerable groups, and Hanul Biopharm received recognition for developing biodegradable wet wipes and introducing the environmental labeling system.

The Ministry of SMEs and Startups launched a joint private support team for ESG, which will conduct customized diagnosis and consulting for SMEs and link them with government projects.

Lee Dae-hee, director of the SME policy division at the Ministry of SMEs and Startups, promised active support, saying that ESG can work as both a burden and a new opportunity for SMEs.

The SME and Startup Promotion Agency said it would continue to work to create an ESG ecosystem with such efforts.

The ESG Management Innovation Fair was held at Conrad Hotel in Yeouido on November 30, and it included various contents such as investment consultation and ESG forum as well as the award ceremony.

The eight companies that received the awards are Daewoon Transportation, Hanul Biopharm, Korea Material Industry, KECMT, Sky Bio Agriculture Corporation, Yoo Seung In Nature, Daseong P&F, and Dongmin Industrial Cooperative.

Daseong P&F Co., Ltd. received the chairman’s commendation from the Shared Growth Committee for reducing unnecessary energy use in production processes and enhancing the practice of family-friendly work environment.

SMEs interested in ESG management can get help from the joint private support team.

It seems that they are working hard to have a positive impact on SMEs with such activities.
