[Kyungjak Han & Joey Lee = Jinho Lee] Dasung P&F is a manufacturer specializing in protective tapes. It was founded in October 2014 by CEO Shin Min-kyung (55).

“As a company that pursues faith and trust, we are continuously growing as a company that pursues the best quality based on the technology and experience accumulated over the years,” said Shin. “We are striving to grow into a world-leading manufacturer of protective tapes based on excellent R&D, manufacturing and production technology.”

“As a company that practices coexistence and coexistence, we are making continuous efforts and practices to pursue coexistence not only within the fence of diversity, but also within our society, based on the motif of ‘I,’ 'you,' and 'we. ”We aim to become a leading company in the protective tape market with the management philosophy of 'developing together. "We are creating a company that customers trust by impressing customers with quality and brand value through continuous investment and challenges. We are a company that pursues the happiness of our employees and the happiness of stakeholders surrounding the company at the same time, and we are constantly changing and developing based on smart factory and ESG management to improve quality and maximize productivity in line with the trend of the times."

Dasung P&F produces industrial protective tapes. Industrial protective tapes efficiently block and protect the surface of various materials from external contamination and damage that may occur during storage, processing, and transportation, thereby increasing the value of products. It is widely used in industrial sites and logistics distribution sites.

The protective tape is made of PE film with excellent tensile strength and high elongation to enhance functional durability. It is manufactured by applying an acrylic adhesive with excellent physical properties so that it can be applied with various adhesion forces depending on the surface condition of the substrate.

"The role of general tapes is to adhere well to the substrate. However, industrial protective tapes must not only stick well, but also peel off easily. Industrial protective tapes protect the surfaces of various materials, and at the same time, they must not leave any debris behind when peeled off to fulfill their function. Because of this specificity, the products we produce have differentiated adhesive strengths depending on the characteristics of the substrate material and surface preparation. The adhesive application surface of the PE film is treated with a special inner surface treatment so that no residue of the adhesive remains on the substrate even when the tape is peeled off after application."

“Our competitiveness lies in our ability to build high-speed production facilities and improve productivity by applying our drying patent,” said Mr. Shin.

"As a consumable material, protective tape is used in large quantities in industrial sites, so production capacity per unit time is the key to technology. In the production of protective tapes, drying technology has a major impact on product quality and output. The drying process serves to evaporate the solvent in the mixture (adhesive + solvent) applied to the inner surface of the film in the coating process. If the drying process is not carried out smoothly, poor product quality will occur. To improve these problems, we have registered a patent to design and apply a drying device that reduces the scale of production and increases drying efficiency and production speed. Based on our patented drying technology, we have succeeded in producing products at a high speed of about 190 meters per minute for a width of 1500 mm, which is about 2.5 times faster than competitors."

The patented cutting device also improves workability. "The existing cutting machines for cutting cylindrical products in the market use an external fixation of one of the pipes and rotate it, and then proceed with cutting work by moving the blade forward and backward. This type of operation requires a considerably longer working time due to the external fixation of the branch pipe and has the disadvantage of uneven cross-section of the product. In a continuous work environment, this is an inefficient operation that significantly reduces productivity. To solve these problems, we applied the patented ‘Cutting Device for Wrapping’ to increase productivity and reduce the defect rate. We changed the device that is fixed from the outside of the paper tube to a three-sided fixing method inside the paper tube, and applied our own standard and non-standard cutting machines to cut up to 4000 R/L or more per day based on 500 mm. In the case of non-standard cutting, we are able to cut down to the millimeter level to meet the needs of our customers by supplying the sizes required in the industrial sector in a timely manner."

Dasung P&F works with its customers to understand their needs. They cooperate with each other in finding new customers and are also actively marketing online.

"Our stable product supply and quick feedback on customer requests have resulted in a low churn rate, and we have maintained a good relationship with our partners through technical collaboration and win-win cooperation. Based on these efforts, we have OEM contracts with medium and large distributors to ensure delivery standards and quality, and the average transaction period is more than 9 years, maintaining a steady relationship."

"When I was working as the general manager of an industrial protective tape manufacturing company, I thought it was a good business idea, so I started the company with my acquaintances. However, in 2017, due to an unexplained explosion, the company was in a lot of trouble, and my colleagues decided to leave the company, avoiding their responsibilities. However, I couldn't turn my back on the company that I had put so much effort and heart into, and I couldn't turn my back on the employees who had been working with me. So I took over the company with all the management rights, shares, and debts, and renamed the company Dasung P&F. From then on, I started over with my employees and ran forward, and we were able to achieve the results we have today."

“The most rewarding part of running a business is being able to implement DASUNG P&F's social contribution projects,” said Mr. Shin. "I came to this position through a difficult process, so I think I know a little bit about the hearts of people in need. Therefore, I always thought that I would do something good for the underprivileged if I had the opportunity, and I started donating around the time I took over as CEO. Initially, we started by delivering scholarships totaling KRW 36 million for three years to five high school students in Gimpo, and then we have been donating monthly to vulnerable people around the world through international organizations (Save the Children, World Vision, Doctors Without Borders). We also sponsor ‘Anna's House’ for vulnerable homeless and elderly people, and ‘Anna's House’ for people under legal protection to support their independence and create a safe society. In addition, we donate to various places such as the pediatric cancer ward of Busan National University Hospital and the Jungjin Public Scholarship, and we plan to sponsor the underprivileged and single mothers in the future."

DASUNG P&F is composed of 24 people. “Our goal is to increase sales by exploring new markets, and to develop the company and its members by sharing our achievements,” said Shin.

Dasung P&F is a member of the Korea Women's Venture Association, and Ms. Shin is the vice president of the association. The Korea Women's Venture Association is a non-profit corporation established in 1998 by the Small and Medium Business Administration (now the Ministry of SMEs and Startups) to represent the rights and interests of women venture companies. It has five branches: Gwangju-Jeonnam, Daegu-Gyeongbuk, Daejeon-Chungcheong, Busan-Gyeongnam, and Jeonbuk. It operates various support projects and makes recommendations on government policies to create a healthy venture ecosystem through the sustainable growth of more than 4,000 women's venture companies nationwide and the revitalization of women's ventures.
